Nepalese Society for Microbiology (NESOM), an umbrella organization of all the microbiology professionals, practitioners and researchers in Nepal, is going to organize ‘Fifth National Conference on Microbiology’ (5thNCM) on 15-16 Nov. 2014 at Siddhartha Cottage, Dhobighat, Lalitpur.
NESOM has believed that the conference will provide a forum for national and international microbiologists/students, scientists, researchers, practitioners, educators of microbiology from Nepal and other countries for a total of approximately 500 attendees. The conference will commence with an inaugural ceremony followed by opening plenary session.
According to Kul Raj Rai, conference coordinator, general secretary of NESOM, over 120 scientific research papers will be presented at different sessions including plenary, parallel and poster. There will be a separate vector borne disease session where experts discuss on the potential strategies to be taken for the control and prevention of vector borne diseases. In addition, the global issue of impact of climate change on infectious disease dynamics will be extensively discussed in the context of Nepal.
Moreover, the conference will also provide a platform for the discussion of educational strategies adopted by American Society for Microbiology (ASM) and its potential implementation in our context. A concise report on the overall performance and the outcomes of the conference will be documented and disseminated among the concerned governmental authorities and related agencies.
